Tzuby’s Kids Association provided support, in 2023, to over a thousand adoptive parents, foster parents and children, in therapeutic camps, courses and support groups, both in Bucharest and in the cities of Sibiu, Brașov, Timișoara, Oradea. Also, the association held several free online information sessions, both for adopters from Romania and from the diaspora.

“The past years have seen record numbers of adoptions compared to the last 20 years and it is increasingly evident that the need for support services for the integration of children in adoptive and foster families is critical and will be increasingly from one year to another”, said Liviu Mihăileanu, founder of the Tzuby’s Kids association

The year 2023 confirmed our growing need for training and support, and this is where our most intense efforts are concentrated. In addition to the 371 people counseled for adoption, 241 people were trained in Competent Care of Children with a History of Trauma (TCC) and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), the courses being held by authorized Tzuby’s Kids trainers. Also, 253 participants attended support groups and camps organized by Tzuby’s Kids, and 115 children benefited from therapeutic activities, training and support.

“I attended the courses of the Tzuby’s Kids association, I even volunteered in a camp and met some adopted children and thus I better understood their traumas and life stories. We did all this to see if we were ready for this process. We understood that adoption means doing good, taking care, helping a child, so we wanted to take more. It’s just that we lived in a studio apartment and we proposed, with God’s help, that for four years we would prepare for the mission of parents and build a house. Tzuby’s Kids – “Strong parents. Happy children.”

A decade ago, tens of thousands of children were stuck in the protection system in Romania. Foster care was at the limit of legality, there were no deadlines for reintegration into the biological family, and the declaration of adoptability was made too late or never. Tzuby’s Kids has been part of legislative changes and changes to the child protection system all this time and is with adoptive and foster families to support the integration of children into the family. The classes, support groups and therapeutic camps offered by Tzuby’s Kids aim to develop strong parents who, through competent love, can raise happy children.

What do we propose in 2024?

Our future plans remain focused on the process of integrating children into the family and we aim to take it a step further with TzubyLAND, a therapeutic complex where as many children and their families as possible can be supported in healing and recovery. After the purchase of the land in the center of the country sponsored in 2023 by the company PwC Romania, we aim to achieve, by joining other partners, the design and utilities stage.
